Travel Day

Shamattawa team left Fergus Falls at about 8:30 AM Friday Morning heading north to the Canadian border. Passing through Fargo, Grand Forks and Pembina, we hit the border by about 12:30 PM, almost to the minute of the time we crossed last year in 2015. The border crossing was uneventful, but did get called in to go over the paperwork once again as in past years. Then on our way towards Winnipeg, stopping there for lunch at McDonalds.

Heading north towards Grand Rapids we stopped for gas at Ashern Manitoba. Then another 2 hrs of driving we made it to Grand Rapids by 7:00 PM, then topped off the tank to  be ready for Saturday morning take off to Thompson.

The Chinese restaurant in Grand Rapids was just closing at 7:30, but welcomed us to stay and eat. Very good food! The time is now 10:07 PM and we are settled in to the Catholic Church fellowship hall for the night. The carpet on the floor helps cushion the older bones, so are thankful for that.

As Saturday morning arrives, the church ladies have a breakfast planned for us before we leave for Thompson. Our planned arrival in Thompson is 11:00 AM with our plane for Shamattawa departing at 1:00.
